Introduction
The majors subjects in mathematics education can be classified into two areas, curriculum contents majors and curriculum education majors. The former includes the junior high school mathematics as pure mathematical subjects such as analytical mathematics, algebra, geometry, topology, and statistics. The latter encompasses the junior high school education processes such as learning psychology, understanding, evaluation, problem solving, educational curriculum, teaching methods and instructional tools.
The mathematics education majors program is equipped with a resource room containing relevant books and employment information and staffed with the superior faculty all of which insure the quality education for the students.
Aims
The Department of Mathematics Education aims at cultivating the talented mathematics teachers for junior high schools through emphasis on expertise in mathematics and with creative and convergence ideas about the mathematics education.
Careers
Graduates of the departmental curriculum earn certified 2nd degree teaching license for careers with junior high schools nationwide and in the Jeju region. 80% of the majors are employed as junior high mathematics teachers. Some of them go on to further study in graduate schools here at home or abroad for eventual teaching and research careers as mathematics instructors and professors.
