Introduction

We study not only the food production for survival of mankind but also the development and utilization of plant resources suitable for the future well-being industry on the basis of native plants. In addition, we educate about the fields of plant pathology, insect and land for the environmentally friendly planting. The special fields of study are as the following: development of useful plant resources and management of environmentally friendly production, management of land for reducing the use of environmentally harmful substances, control of plant disease of fungi, bacteria and virus by using antagonistic microorganism, control of pest of plant using insect and microbial natural enemy and development of functional material, new medicine, microbial substance, using the Jeju native plant, medical plant, and useful natural materials. In this way, we seek to nurture the talents to lead the future environmentally friendly industry of life.

Careers

Not only can the graduates enter the graduate school, but they can also work in agricultural research centers, agricultural administration institutions, agricultural cooperatives, national plant quarantine stations, agriculture teacher of middle schools and high schools and companies of pesticide and seeds. Especially, as leaders of agriculture, they can find their way into a wide range of fields, as shown in the example of being a self-supporting farmer of an economical plants. The department helps the students’ education and employment by exchanging the academic information and technology with agricultural institutions inside and outside the nation.
