Objectives

The Department of Medicine in the College of Medicine aims to nurture competent doctors who
1) have the sense of duty and ethics in the improvement of human health and treatment of diseases during their whole life,
2) effort to keep the specialization and improving themselves and
3) being equipped with the knowledge required by the trend of the changing society and the quality of faithful treatment.

Goals

The students of the Department of Medicine in the College of Medicine
1) are equipped with the comprehensive knowledge of human health and disease and the treatment skills and have the ability of patient-centered and people-oriented treatment.
2) have the attitude to learn the medical knowledge and technology on their own and the ability to perform creative examination and treatment based on scientific foundation.
3) recognize the dignity of human life and perform the work with honest attitude appropriate to the medical ethics
4) even after graduatien, keep the attitude and ability of self-evaluation and self-development to acquire, develop and keep new professional knowledge and skills
5) have a thorough grasp of the problems of health and medical treatment in the nation and community and be equipped with cooperative and volunteering spirit to participate actively in the improvement of health and prevention of diseases.

Outlook

The objectives of the Department of Medicine is to nurture doctors who are equipped with the knowledge and treatment skills required by the trend of changing society and as well as the ability to carry out self-examination and self-development with the sense of ethical duty throughout their life. Despite being a department with a short history that was established in 1998 and the first students graduating in 2002, we are maximizing the effect of the medical education, making the best use of the strong points of
1) the solid basis of a national university,
2) ambitious young professors resisting the existing conventional formality and
3) educating a select 40 students per year. As a result, the first graduates passed the state examination for doctors with grades far above the national average. All the graduates are acting as interns in the medical institutions at the level of university hospitals and the community has high expectations of them.
The new building of the college, established on August in 2002, is equipped with a modern laboratory, equipments for experimental practice, lecture room, and medical digital science library to improve the quality of medical education and the efficiency. The students form many student groups for classical guitar, computer, fencing, swimming, basketball, CMF, rock band, soccer and movie and improve the rapport among friends and between juniors and seniors. Despite the short history, we take pride in the fact that all the members of professors, students and workers have the sense of community and create new traditions one by one.
Especially, for students to meet the need s of the times as future doctors, we educate the subjects of medical ethics and community medical science in addition to those of medical knowledge and thereby guide students to have the pride as intellectuals with good personality and carry out medical activities with love and devotion, which are the principles of our education

Career opportunities after graduation Passing the state examination for doctors, the graduates can participate in the activity of examination and treatment as general doctors. For a more specialized medical activity, they complete the courses of interns and residents and become special doctors. Also, entering the graduate school, they can research and educate about the Life phenomena, which if the base of medical science. In addition, they can act as administrative officials engaged in health and medical professions in the community.
