Introduction

The Department of Computer Education offers the curriculum designed to cultivate the well-trained computer teachers equipped with the comprehensive understanding of computers and information science in general and the expertise in the computer related principles and the effective teaching skills thereof through formal course work and practical laboratory experience in a variety of applications.

Along with the majors curriculum, the department offers a variety of complementary programs for educational and scholarship benefits from the department-affiliated “Global Teachers Training Project,” “Joint Teachers College and the College of Education SW-based innovative Convergence Teachers Training Project”, “Engineering Education Center Grant Project” and other opportunities involving industry-academic collaborative program, jobs related preparative courses, and domestic and international internships.

To optimize the educational conditions, individualized 24 hour/365 day self-managed laboratories (equipped with multimedia and air-conditioning) and special research programs (scientific writing, participation in scientific conferences, specialized majors study clubs, etc) are provided for the training of the talented computer education teachers and specialists.

Aims

The principal objective of the departmental majors program is to cultivate the superior computer educators equipped with the general knowledge of computers and information science as well as having the teaching skills for junior high school students.

Careers

In anticipation of the potential, sustainable demand for information technology in the 4th industrial revolution era, graduates of the computer education majors are given many opportunities to work as junior high school teachers and computer instructors with a variety of educational and governmental organizations. The IT related industries and research institutes also offer a variety of career options for the graduates.
