Introduction

Pharmacy is a science that deals with life phenomena on the basis of basic sciences such as physics, biology and chemistry, and is an applied science and comprehensive life science that studies physiologically active substances that influences these life phenomena.
College of Pharmacy offers courses to become scientists who study academic theories and techniques for the prevention and treatment of diseases, or professionals who can apply theories and techniques in medicine.
Pharmacy major conducts research on physiologically active substances, such as physical properties and in vivo action of pharmaceuticals, separation and identification of bio-active substances, drug efficacy evaluation, formulation and preparation of pharmaceuticals, patho-physiology, pharmaceutical information, public health, and herbal medicine.

Postgraduate career options

• - Hospital pharmacists: In 2nd and 3rd grade hospitals and wards, they perform various tasks for clinical patients such as drug management, dispensing and administration, guidance on medication, and provision of drug information. As a pharmacist with professional knowledge and practical skills in medicine, he or she performs the function of a hospital pharmacist.
• - Pharmacist at Pharmaceutical company: Focuses on various fields such as pharmaceutical company headquarters, production, and research institutes. Headquarters work in sales, marketing, development, academic departments, etc., where pharmacy knowledge is required. The production work is based on professional pharmacy knowledge and performs pharmaceutical production and quality control work through GMP, GLP, etc. Research center work will participate in new drug development through discovery of new drug candidates, formulation development, and efficacy evaluation.
• - Further study through Graduate School Admission (Master/Doctoral program): In order to gain more professional and in-depth knowledge in pharmacy fields, you gain experience as a definite expert who conducts research in a specific area of expertise by entering graduate school. After obtaining the degree, pharmacy research is conducted at pharmaceutical and bio-industry research institutes, national and public research institutes, domestic and foreign universities, and overseas pharmaceutical research institutes.
• - Pharmacist as Public officials: Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Health Industry Promotion Agency, Health and Medical Review and Assessment Service, National Institute of health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Korean Intellectual Property office, etc. It is in charge of pharmacy related affairs that monitors, directs, and educates all tasks related to the production and distribution of formulated drugs.
• - Pharmacist in local pharmacy: You can work as a pharmacist at a general pharmacy or manage a pharmacy yourself. In addition to manufacturing work, it is possible to contribute to the health promotion of the local community through professional health counseling and medication guidance in accordance with the trend of increasingly specialized and individualized patients’ health needs.
