The cradle of student growth, a university that creates new values

Introduction

For the regional specialization in the area of the drastical changes and the continuous growth of the national economy, the Graduate School of Industry was established with the purpose of 1) studying profoundly the high-tech development, the production of the product with international competitiveness, and the theory and the practice of resource development and effective management and of 2) contributing to the development of community and industrial economy through industrial-academic cooperation.
The feature of the course is to offer industrial workers, technicians, CEOs and managers, the opportunity of lifelong education so that they can get the new technologies and theories. Starting from the industrial strategy of regional specialization and the development of conservation of resources, we research and teach the development and practice of the study relating to regional industrial technology and resource development, through the industrial-academic-research cooperation. Thereby, we seek to nurture professionals equipped with the leadership and creative ability. The graduate school of industry was authorized on November, 1996 and opened on March 1997 with 60 students of 23 majors of 8 departments. The education period is 5 terms for 2 years and 6 months and it is operated as evening classes.
Since the first graduation of 25 students (2 Agricultural Masters, 1 Scientific Master, and 22 Engineering Masters) we have given Master’s degrees to 573 students (34 Agricultural Masters, 72 Scientific Masters, and 393 Engineering Masters, 21 Economic Masters, 53 Design Masters) until the present. We also established the course for environmental experts, by the conclusion of the agreement of business operation between the Jeju special self-governing province and Jeju National University on March 2002. Since the first graduation, 1086 students have completed the course, as of today’s date.
