Introduction
Upon satisfying the Department of Maritime Industrial Police Science curricular requirements, the majors can earn the certificates of 3rd grade navigator, 1st grade fishery engineer, 1st grade maritime production manager, 2nd degree junior high school teacher (navigation, engine), small ship captain, and radio-wave technician (GOC), etc. Accordingly, the graduates may opt for careers with Coast Guard Headquarter (ship operation, reform police force, information department, etc), fishery and shipping firms (captain and navigator), and maritime and fishery related research organizations (National Fisheries Research & Development Institute and Jeju Marine Resource Research Institute, etc), fishery administration agencies (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fishery and Food), educational institutions (maritime high school), ship inspections, naval officers, fishery cooperatives, ship and maritime equipment industries.
Aims
The Department of Maritime Industrial Police Science aims at cultivating the professionals to lead the next generation maritime industry through integrated training in scientific fishing techniques, ship operating skills, navigation and ocean weather forecasting methods.
Careers
The majors can earn the certificates of 3rd grade navigator, 1st grade fishery engineer, 1st grade maritime production manager, 2nd degree junior high school teacher (navigation, engine), small ship captain, or radio-wave technician (GOC). Consequently, after graduation they are employed as specially screened maritime policemen at the Maritime Guard Security Center, government service employees (captains and navigators) with the Ministry of Public Safety and Security, fishery and shipping firm staff, government-funded research scientists, maritime high school teachers, and employees with many maritime and fishery related private and industrial sectors.
