Introduction
The Department of Fashion & Textiles comprised of the following 6 areas offers instructions in both theory and laboratory practice:
Clothing Science - Studies physical and chemical characteristics of raw materials, effective choice of materials, textiles and their product management, constitution and coordination, management, dyeing and processing, and clothes testing
Clothing Composition?- Studies pattern making to fit human ergonomic factors, grading, sawing methods and techniques for establishing the rational manufacturing processes
Fashion Design?- Studies brand process in fashion design plan, creative design ideas in textile design, coordinations for artistic sensibility through analysis and anticipation of the past and present fashion trends
Fashion Marketing?- Studies planning, distribution and advertizement of clothing products, consumer-oriented fashion products and their supply and management for commercial benefits
Korean Costumes?- Studies the type and characteristics of traditional clothes, constitutional make-up principles in rationally developing uniquely traditional costumes, history of Korean costumes, and composition of Korean costumes
Clothing Environment?- Studies clothes’ thermal and comfort characteristics, development of high sensitivity clothing and its planning centered around the human, clothing, and environmental factors, ubiquitous environmental and functional clothing, clothing and environment, and special environmental clothing,
Aims
The Department of Fashion and Clothing aims at cultivating the fashion specialists to lead the Korean fashion industry in the areas of product planning, coordination, manufacturing, sales, management, and fashion magazines. To achieve the goals, the department offers the curricula encompassing theoretical and laboratory instructions for its specialized majors in clothing science, clothing composition science, fashion design, fashion marketing, Korean costumes, clothing environmental science.
