Introduction
The Department of Physical Education was established within the College of Education in March 1972, and it was realigned with the College of Natural Science to cultivate the experts covering more diverse areas of physical education in March 1989. To solidify as an academic discipline the department was restructured into two majors, Physical Education and Leisure Sports, under the administration of the Faculty of Physical Education in March 2004. The department has affiliated itself with Horse Industry Convergence Majors as a subsidiary majors curriculum in 2012. It was renamed as the present department in March 2016, emphasizing field-centered and practical physical education.

Careers
Graduates of the departmental majors program find their careers as physical education administrators, professional sports managers, professional sports coaches, life sports instructors, youth sports instructors, health and fitness managers, sports therapists, sports management agents, sports reporters, sports researchers, etc. Some of them go on to further study at graduate schools to earn master’s and doctoral degrees for eventual careers as college professors and researchers. They also participate in the departmental employment program‘Vision G.G.’to explore their career choices through programmed goal achieving step training.
