Introduction

The Department of Economics provides its majors curriculum designed to cultivate the talented individuals capable of in-depth analysis and prediction concerning the increasingly important issues of economic policy objectives such as full employment, price stabilization, balance of payment presentation, distribution of income, and other economic problems arising from the daily livelihood of the people of contemporary times. The economics is generally regarded as a “flower of the social sciences” and such it provides many theoretical and analytical methods for social science disciplines. Important areas provided in the majors curricula are economics theory (microeconomics and macroeconomics), financial theory of money, international economics, financial science, labor economics, econometrics, and economic history. The department offers specific courses such as economic statistics, microeconomics, financial theory of money, macroeconomics, financial science, economic development science, and econometrics, which are complemented with classroom lectures, computing laboratory exercises and seminars. To broaden their educational experience, the majors students are also encouraged to take courses in economic law, taxation, regional development, international relations, financial economics, philosophy, and political science.

Aims

The Department of Economics aims at cultivating the talented economics professionals to meet the needs of global and knowledge- and information-driven society through quality education and complementary programs. It emphasizes nurturing the economic expertise capable of in-depth analysis and prediction about the macroeconomic phenomena (full employment, price stabilization, etc) as well as consumer problems and industrial and daily livelihood agenda.

Careers

Graduates of the economics majors are widely employed in public and private sectors where economics expertises play critical roles in planning, policy establishment, and performance evaluations, etc. They find their careers with intelligence agencies, financial institutions, public corporations, journalism and public relations, stock markets, diplomatic organizations, and large business conglomerates.
