The College of Veterinary Medicine was separated as an independent institute from the College of the Applied Life Sciences in 2008. In September 2014, the new building with four floors and one basement level was completed in its current location with a gross area of 5,578㎡. It is equipped with the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Training Ranch in Yongang, Veterinary Medical Research Institute, Laboratory Animal Center, and Jeju Wildlife Rescue Center.
The veterinary science is extended to a wide range of fields, including clinical veterinary medicine, livestock hygiene, pet diseases, wild animal diseases, water-bourne animal diseases, communicable diseases, and food and environmental hygiene. It is also a future-oriented academic sphere that are closely related to the cutting-edge bioindustries that involve studies on new substances, artificial organs, transformal animals, interspecies organ transplants, stem cells, and tumors.
