Introduction
Through specializing in basic drawing, Korean painting, three dimensional modeling, western painting, sculpture, handicraft and design, the talented fine art teachers are cultivated for teaching the fine art for children. To implement the departmental program, both theoretical and practical aspects of elementary fine art education are taught and complemented with fine art exhibitions and participations in fine art-related events on and off campus. For providing practical education, the department is equipped with the laboratories of basic modeling, oil painting, the prints, and the kiln which offer diverse laboratory opportunities for the majors students.
Aims
Upon graduation, the majors earn 2nd degree teachers certificates for teaching jobs at elementary schools.
Careers
On the basis of the broad understanding of the characteristics (teaching contents and methods) of elementary school children, the majors curriculum aims at fostering the talented individuals equipped with the teaching expertise. Further, we nurture the culturally and socially well-rounded individuals who are conscious of the dignity and ethical standard expected of teaching profession.
History
- 1946: Trained 5,900 elementary school teachers at Jeju Interim Teachers Education Center
- Through 2017: Established the current twelve elementary school majors including Elementary Ethics Education, Elementary Korean Language Education, Elementary Mathematics Education, Elementary Science Education, Elementary Music Education, Elementary Fine Art Education, Elementary Professional Education, Elementary Pedagogy Education, E Elementary English Education, and Elementary Computer Science Education, complemented with overseas internships, out-of-province study tours, Sara Academy and a variety of other programs to facilitate the training of elementary school teachers.
