Introduction
In 2005, the Ministry of Education and Human Resources awarded a 4-year NURI grant of 10 billion won (a national university reform initiative program) to the Jeju National University faculty this enabled the Multimedia Design majors to take cultural contents courses and earn a dual bachelor’s degree. Under the NURI project, the majors benefited fr-om scholarships, overseas internships and other advantages, making them highly employable after graduation. The 21st century is an era of cutting-edge knowledge industry. The Digital Contents Design calls for new and creative approaches to its educational curriculum. The Multimedia Design Majors program encompasses not only the two- and three-dimensional designs in advertizing, products, environment, packaging, editorial and illustration, but also provides training in planning, production and staging of such new multimedia frontiers as web, digital games, event media, etc, and photographic, computer illustration, 2D, 3D, CG, animation, multi-title, digital image editing, etc. Through the training in these areas, the program aims to produce industry experts with planning and executing abilities as well as to train the majors for venture enterprising ranging fr-om multimedia, SOHO (small self-employed businesses) to IP & CP (Information Provider & Contents Provider).
Careers
Complementing the tourism business as the nation’s third generation industry, advancement and career opportunities of Industrial Design Majors is becoming increasingly important for the region. Specific areas of career opportunities include advertizing hotels and service businesses, interior design, environmentally designed offices, C.I.P., industrial product design laboratories and planning offices, design development of tourism options and package design, film image design, computer graphic, displays at department stores and shopping malls, etc. In addition, teaching at secondary schools represents an attractive career, and the graduates of the Multimedia Design Majors can be certified as visual design technicians, product designers, interior designers, package designers, colorist technicians, computer graphics technicians and other certified professionals.

- 2002: Department of Industrial Design reorganized its curriculum and enrolled separately

- 2004: Enrollment unit name change and separate majors enrollments
