JNU Future Professional Agricultural Manager Training Project Group (Director: Professor Kim Dong-soon, hereinafter referred to as FPAMT Project Group) collaborates with The bugs (CEO Min Dong-won) to provide insect experience program and strawberry experience program for public daycare centers in Jeju to commemorate Children's Day for free. The experience program was held at the Jeju National University smart farm startup incubation training center on the 2nd of May.
JNU FPAMT Project Group and The bugs jointly planned and operated the experience programs to provide a special time for children on Children's Day.
Min Dong-won, CEO of The bugs, started the industry insect business as a representative of industrial insects. Currently, the company grows and commercializes industrial insects such as mantises in the JNU smart farm training center. On this day, the company provided the insects they farm for children to observe. In addition, the students belonging to the FPAMT Project Group provided the strawberry experience program in a high-tech strawberry cultivation room, supporting children to directly pick and taste the strawberries.
The two organizations signed a business agreement to revitalize businesses in related fields such as utilizing facilities for smart farm education and training technology and manpower last year for the operation of the high-tech insect industry academy to cultivate excellent human resources in the industrial (food) insect field in Jeju.
Director Kim Dong-soon (Department of Plant Resources & Environment, College of Applied Life Sciences) said, “With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, the FPAMT Project Group established a smart farm practice center. JNU is also engaged in social contribution activities such as smart farm start-up education for families with developmental disabilities in Jeju as well as students and local farmers. JNU will continue to develop various educational and experience programs such as insects, strawberries, and mushrooms."
