Oh Yeong-eun & Kim Seo-yeon from JNU Fish Pathology Lab Win Ministerial Award for Student Science & Technology

Oh Yeong-eun, a Ph.D. student in Marine Life Sciences at JNU's College of Ocean Sciences and affiliated with the Fish Pathology Laboratory, along with Kim Seo-yeon, an undergraduate student majoring in Aquatic Life Medicine, (supervision of Prof. Jeong Joon-bum) were honored at the "2025 Korean Women's Science and Technology Awards." They received the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Award (General Category) at the ceremony, organized by the Korea Women's Science and Technology Foundation (WISET) on December 1, 2025.

The research team, led by Oh Yeong-eun, conducted a study to scientifically verify the antiviral efficacy of an extract from Humulus japonicus. This research garnered significant attention for suggesting the possibility of controlling viruses using natural substances.

This award recognizes the originality and achievements of their research, which was conducted as part of engineering research team projects. These projects are specifically designed to strengthen the research capabilities of JNU's female researchers and to foster talented individuals in engineering and science and technology.
