Professor Song Sang-keun of JNU Department of Earth and Marine Sciences received the "Excellent Thesis Award" at the 68th Conference of the Korean Society for Atmospheric Environment (KOSAE), held at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju from October 15 to 17.

This award is presented to researchers who have published numerous papers featuring creative research results in the Journal of KOSAE over the past three years. This recognition is highly regarded by researchers in the atmospheric environment.

His award-winning thesis is titled 'A Study on the Long-Term Trend Analysis of Biomass Burning Emissions in South Korea and its Effect on Aerosol and CO Concentration.' It analyzes the long-term trends of forest fire changes in Korea over the past 20 years and evaluates the impact of high-resolution biomass burning on atmospheric aerosol and CO concentrations.

This study is significant as it scientifically identifies the impact of wildfires on local air quality and provides reliable basic data for future forest fire response and air quality management systems.

Professor Song of JNU has actively conducted numerical modeling research related to air pollution and climate change. Furthermore, he has continuously contributed to academic development by publishing numerous papers in prestigious domestic and international journals.
