Prof. Kim Dong-jun to join the Presidential Commission for Balance National Development

Kim Dong-jun, Jeju National University’s faculty member in the Department of History, has been appointed to join the state-led Special Committee for Regional Policies and Pledge Fulfilment.

The special committee is established under the Presidential Commission for Balanced Regional Development to promote the fulfilment of President Moon Jae-in’s election pledges on regional growth. The committee members also consider and discuss the plausibility and potential of policy proposals made by local governments.

The newly appointed members, including Prof. Kim Dong-jun and nine other specialists, will join the committee for a one-year term, starting March 16.

The special committee will especially work to bridge the development gap between the capital and local areas, while actively developing policies for balanced regional growth.

During the appointment ceremony held on Friday (March 16) in the government complex in Seoul, Kim Sa-yeol, the chairman of the presidential commission, met with presidential office members and the special committee members to monitor pledge fulfilment and discuss implementation strategies.
