Jeju National University’s Global Trade Experts Incubating Program (JNU-GTEP) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Jeju-based exporters for industry-academy cooperation on improving export sales.

JNU-GTEP said Friday (April 16) that the bilateral MOU was signed with a total of 11 businesses on Jeju Island last month, for the purposes of incubating trade experts and creating international distribution channels. And on April 15, the 12th agreement was made with Moda Onpyeong Co., Ltd.

Jeju-based exporters have striven to increase the volume of their exports over the past years. Despite their outstanding technologies, many of them have experienced difficulties creating international distribution channels due to the lack of trade experts.

Under the latest MOU, the JNU-GTEP will train talented students to build capabilities required for trade experts, so that the businesses can create more export opportunities with the young export leaders.

A JNU-GTEP official said that the small and medium-scale businesses will receive support for export consultation meetings held in Korea and overseas and for communication in foreign languages when looking for buyers and distribution channels in international markets.

JNU-GTEP will continue to discover and sign an MOU for support with other enthusiastic exports on Jeju Island, he added.
