Blood donations made for JNU student with serious road traffic injuries

Jeju National University’s faculty and students volunteered to give blood to a seriously injured victim of the April 6 traffic collision, the university announced Wednesday (April 14).
In response to the desperate request from the patient’s parent, a total of 23 AB positive donors gathered in front of the school’s gymnasium for blood donation.
The university explained that the traffic victim had been hospitalized in an intensive care unit and undergone an emergency surgery where she urgently needed a transfusion. Thanks to the keen attention of her fellow students and many other Jeju residents, she was able to receive the necessary transfusion in time.
Thirty-three other JNU students also experienced road traffic injuries, 18 of whom are still in local hospitals. The university has collected a total of 701 blood donation certificates as of April 14. The certificates, alongside the remaining AB positive blood donated by JNU members, will be used in the event of additional urgent situations that may occur to the victims.
A blood donor named Yoon Geon-young (fourth grader, Dept. of Political Science and Diplomacy) said that it is every JNU member’s wish that all of the injured students will recover soon and return to school.
