Cooperation agreed between JNU and local mineral water supplier

Jeju National University and Orion’s Jeju Yongamsu mineral water signed a memorandum of understanding for local community development, the university announced Wednesday (April 21).

Under the agreement, the education institute and the conglomerate will support school subjects based on industry-academy cooperation, while developing and operating social responsibility programs together.

The agreement will also serve as a ground for the fostering of local young talents through the reciprocal provision of physical and human resources.

Specifically, Orion Jeju Yongamsu and the Orion Foundation will contribute funds to the Capstone Design project run by JNU’s state-led research program, LINC+, so that the students joining the project will discover new local values and share their findings broadly with society.

Capstone Design refers to a creative design program where students use knowledge learned from their majors to plan, design, and produce items to comprehensively solve problems that occur in businesses or local communities.

Orin Jeju Yongamsu opened a manufacturing plant in 2019 in the Lava Seawater Industrial Complex located in Jeju’s northeastern village of Handong. The company has manufactured Dr. You Jeju Yongamsu, a mineral water brand made with Jeju’s volcanic seawater.
