Seminar on bio-fisheries industry held to strengthen students’ research capability

Jeju National University’s Bio-Fisheries Industry Research Team announced Friday (April 2) that it held a seminar on pre-career education in the university’s College of Ocean Sciences Ⅳ.
In 2020, the Bio-Fisheries Industry Research Team launched a program to equip local talented intellectuals with the capability of leading research projects on converged sciences and playing a pivotal role in the world’s bio-fisheries industry.
For the first round of the program in 2021, the education team held the seminar with an expert invited from a leading bio-industry research institute.
During the seminar, students with interest in the bio-fisheries industry learned how to build a creative research capability from Oh Chulhong, senior researcher at the Jeju Research Center, the Jeju regional branch of the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology.
The organizers of the seminar stated that the program has been innovatively associated with major-related courses in the past two years. The education team plans to establish a virtuous cycle of education and research by helping its participants obtain knowledge and experience that is necessary for research, they added.
JNU’s seminar with an invited expert in the field of bio-fisheries is slated to be held every last Monday of the month throughout the first semester this year.
