Application for ‘healing’ for parents of children suffering from atopic diseases available

 

 

Jeju National University’s Environmental Health Center will run a therapeutic patient education course for parents whose children have suffered from atopic diseases.

 

The university institution said the education course is titled “A Healing Course for Parents Fighting against Atopic Diseases” and will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. on Thursday from June 3 to 17. The program will be offered in collaboration with the provincial Center for Environmental Disease Control and Prevention (also known as the Nutmeg Tree Forest Healing Center).

 

The application process started on Thursday (May 6) and around 20 applicants will be accepted until May 25 in the order the applications are received. Anyone who has a child with an atopic disease is eligible to apply for the program will be able to take the course at no cost, including eco-friendly meals.

The education course will feature consultation services provided by pediatric and adolescent medical specialists, who will answer questions about atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, asthma, food allergies, and more.

 

During the course, the parents will have their skin be exposed to key allergy-causing substances to figure out the main causes of atopic diseases.

 

Additionally, the participants will build a peer support system by taking an additional course to fight depression and relieve stress due to childrearing.

 

The course for reducing parenting stress includes positive psychology interventions as well as physical relaxation techniques.

 

The organizers will present gift moisturizers to the participants and strictly follow the quarantine guidelines of Jeju province against the COVID-19 spread.
