Kakao’s web developer invited for field-centered education for female students

Jeju National University’s WISET project team invited Lee Jae Seung, a board member of Kakao’s Regional Social Cooperation Team, for field-centered education for female students on Thursday (April 29).
WISET, standing for “women in science, engineering, and technology”, is a state-led regional program established in 2003 for the empowerment of women engineering students. JNU’s WISET project team, the R-WeSET regional agency, has run diverse programs to build female undergraduates’ leadership and career capabilities in the fields of engineering and technology.
The university’s project team organized the recent education course to help female students studying engineering and technology to strengthen necessary hard and soft skills required in the field of software development.
During the course, the board member of Kakao Corp. educated the students on the business trends of IT firms, introducing the Jeju-based tech company’s digital innovation and preferred working style.
The education course allowed the students wishing to work for the company to have a better understanding about the horizontal and self-directed corporate culture of the nation’s messaging platform giant, the WISET project team explained.
Launched in 2013, the field-centered education course was promoted in cooperation with DK Service (a Kakao subsidiary) between 2017 and 2019. Starting from this year, the course is offered as a social cooperation project of Kakao Corp.
A participant of the recent event expressed her contentment with the course as it will allow the students to make an informed decision in designing their career paths. The course will be helpful for preparing for the actual field work and having a required mental attitude, she added.
