Wellness tourism project in cooperation with JTO launched

Jeju National University’s LINC+ and Jeju Tourism Organization (JTO) met on Thursday to launch the Living Lab Capstone Design Wellness Tourism Project, announced the university’s industry-university cooperation agency.
In the joint statement previously announced in February, JTO and 22 other organizations based on Jeju and the Korean mainland regions agreed to revitalize the local economy of Jeju Island amid the pandemic by establishing a governance system for the wellness tourism industry.
Considering the statement, Jeju National University formed eight living lab-style capstone design teams where seven departments of the university’s six colleges will work together to foster talents in the wellness tourism industry.
Capstone design is a culminating program for undergraduates in several disciplines who use the knowledge and skilled related to their majors to plan, design, and produce solutions to different issues found in enterprises or local communities. A living lab-style capstone design team especially invites regional institutes or local community members to the problem-solving process.
Jeju National University’ LINC+ stated that the project teams for wellness tourism will be supported by the university and JTO, whose achievements will be shared and disseminated to contribute to re-boosting local tourism industrial growth.
