Career preparation course opened for students seeking to work for KOMIPO Local talent for green energy industry to be fostered

Jeju National University’s industry-academy cooperation agency named LINC+ opened its KOMIPO Employment Academy on Friday (May 7).

LINC+ and Korea Midland Power Corp. (COMIPO) co-organized the career preparation course for two consecutive years to foster local talent for the green energy industry.

The career education program started featuring the company’s in-service professionals as lecturers, including Jeong Gyeong-man, head of the Management Innovation Team, who talked about KOMIPO’s innovation-oriented strategies. The course was followed by more special lectures on career preparation, focused on the different areas of the energy industry.

During the course, the academy will teach the students looking for job opportunities in the energy industry about writing an appealing cover letter and properly responding to interviews.

The students will also meet and talk with JNU graduates who have recently joined COMIPO and receive consultation from COMIPO staff members who will help them prepare for the company’s 2021 open recruitment.

After completing the course, the students will be given two certificates of course completion issued by the president of JNU and CEO of COMIPO, respectively. Scholarships will also be presented to selected excellent trainees by COMIPO.

JNU LINC+ and COMIPO have built a system of close academy-industry cooperation since 2018. In February last year, an agreement was signed between the two parties to foster talent who will lead the innovative growth of the local community and energy industry.

Last year, KOMIPO contributed virtual conference systems for online classes of the KOMIPO Employment Academy.

The Employment Academy marks the 4th anniversary this year, according to Kang Chulung, director of LINC+. He stated that the training course has now become an influential academy-industry cooperation program for reducing mismatches in Jeju workers’ skills and jobs and creating appealing job opportunities for talented intellectuals. KOMIPO Employment Academy is significant in that the university works to foster innovative local intellects who will lead the green energy industry, one of Jeju’s leading industrial sectors, he added.
