Jeju National University (JNU) and Korea Credit Guarantee (KODIT) signed an agreement for industry-academy cooperation on Wednesday (May 12).

JNU and KODIT decided on the cooperation scheme to discover and foster Jeju-based start-ups with outstanding ideas and technologies.

Under the agreement, the KODIT will develop financial and non-financial support measures for promising companies that have a relatively short history of not exceeding five years and are recommended by the JNU. These will include but not limited to firms established by JNU faculty, researchers, or students; firms holding JNU’s technologies and invested by the university; and firms housed at JNU’s Business Incubation Center.

Additionally, the KODIT and the JNU will work together to encourage the opening of new businesses by hosting consultation meetings and Demo Day events (events held before the D-Day events). The two institutes will also exchange specialized human resources and provide mutual support for fostering talented intellects.

Yoon Daehee, CEO of the KODIT, stated that the agreement is expected to motivate promising local entrepreneurs to boldly open new businesses and make success stories. KODIT will expand its collaboration with related local institutes in Jeju to vitalize the ecosystem for start-ups.
