Software Convergence Education Institute held ‘Special Lectures on Artificial Intelligence’

Software Convergence Education Institute of Jeju National University (Director Song, Wang-cheol, Professor of Computer Engineering) announced on May 29 the ‘Special Lectures on Artificial Intelligence (AI) of the 1st Half of 2021,’ which was held from May 26 to 27.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, each lecture was participated by some 20 students comprising two classes.
With Professor Kim, Jae-gwang from Sungkyunkwan University and Professor Kwon, hoon as special lecturers, both theoretical and practical aspects of ‘k-Nearest Neighbors (kNN) algorithm,’ and ‘approach to Python AI’ were respectively dealt with as the themes.
In the special lectures, 61 students from the university’s SW-specialized majors and interdisciplinary majors took part in. The group of students were divided into basic course that aimed for 1st and 2nd years, and advanced course aimed for 3rd and 4th years.
Yoon, So-won, a student of Computer Science & Statistics, said after taking the basic course, “While the AI was totally a new field for me, the theoretical and practical experience I had during the class helped me familiarized. Now, I am more confident than I was before.” The student added, “I consider this an opportunity to enhance my skills regarding AI in various other projects to come.”
Director Song of SW Convergence Education Institute, the organizer of the special lectures said, “We’re heading into the new era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, and our Institute plans to operate quality special lectures so that students can become confident in the information technology field.”
Following up, the SW Convergence Education Institute is scheduled for another series of special lectures on Big Data, from June 2 to 3.
