Jeon, Cheol-young and Kim, Seong-hyeon chosen as college standing army players

Jeon, Cheol-young and Kim, Seong-hyeon, junior students of Jeju National University Department of Kinesiology, were chosen as college standing army players.

JNU now holds three students selected as standing army sport players for two consecutive years, in addition to Cho, Min-woo, a senior student, who was chosen last year.

Jeon and Kim ranked 3rd and 4th places respectively and were chosen in the ‘63rd Spring College Kendo Championship / 2021 Selection for College Standing Army Players’ held in Cheongyang, Chungcheongnam Province from May 21 to 23.

The championship was a full league games played by 4 groups of 36 players. Players who ranked up to the 4th place in each group qualify to join standing army.

Prior to this, Jeon placed 3rd in ‘2021 SBS National Kendo Competition for College Students’ held in March at Jamsil Students’ Gymnasium.

Meanwhile, JNU lost a 7-player preliminary team event to Chosun University. The nip and tuck match ended as JNU was defeated by a single point, with the score set as 2:2 (JNU 4 points : Chosun University 5 points).
