The Learning Community is a self-directed learning program designed to enhance students' competencies by helping them set learning goals for their teams and conduct activities accordingly. This initiative includes study groups (group learning), mentoring (support for university and department adaptation), and tutoring (subject-specific learning). JNU has operated these programs for over 10 years.
In the Spring 2024 semester, the program began with 220 participants across 46 teams. Ultimately, 186 students from 35 teams completed their activities, with five teams recognized for their high learning processes and performance.
The following teams were selected: Best Study Group (JNU President Award): Humanities Tour Team (Namgoong Joo-young, Environmental Engineering Department, College of Ocean Science) Excellence Award: Pet and Matt Team (Office of Education and Innovation Head Award) Encouragement Award: WoW Team (Lee Seo-young, College of Veterinary Medicine) and Major Explorer Team (Lee So-hyun, Software Department, Engineering University, along with three others)
In the Learning Mentoring category, the Excellence Award went to the "Gachi ui Gachi Team," led by Jin Yu-na from the College of Nursing and four other students. The center awarded a total of KRW 2.3 million to the excellent teams.
The Humanities Tour Team, recognized as the best study group, focused on discussions around books and topics such as "Italian Individualism and the NIMBY Phenomenon," reflecting the interests of its members. They also made practical contributions by creating a filter device related to water quality management, linking theory directly to their field of study.
The Gachi ui Gachi Team, honored as an excellent learning mentoring team, received high scores for their achievement of team goals, performance relative to their activity plan, and adherence to content fidelity.
