South Korea’s four Global Teachers University (GTU) Agencies will be convened on Jeju for the 2021 GTU Performance Expansion Forum on May 11.

The forum has been organized to share the performances of the Global Teacher Training and Multicultural Understanding Promotion Project, which started in 2012.

The event will be jointly hosted by the GTU agencies of Gyeongin Teachers College, Kyungpook National University, Korea National University of Education, and Jeju National University, and will be sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The state-run GTU project has been implemented for the purpose of building future teachers’ capacity of global education and multicultural education by 2025.

The May 11 forum will introduce the progress, effects, excellent performances, and case examples of the Global Teacher Training and Multicultural Understanding Promotion Project.

Oh Hong-shik, head of the JNU GTU Agency, explained the forum was organized to explore the answers to the rapidly globalizing and multi-culturally transforming schools. Institutes, organizations, schools, and local education policymakers interested in global and/or multi-cultural education are encouraged to share good ideas and suggestions, he added.

All participants are required to make prior registrations using the QR code printed on the poster. Following the national quarantine guidelines, the eligibility will be limited to 70 participants in the order the applications are received.

JNU GTU Agency will broadcast the entire event live on YouTube, whose website will be opened with the search word, “gtu jnu”.

Oh, head of JNU GTU Agency, expressed his high expectations that the performances of the four universities running the GTU project will be shared with the teachers’ colleges across the nation.
