Expected to reduce power consumption and improve efficiency of next-generation displays

 

Jeju National University Prof. Ha Min Woo of pharmaceutical studies recently developed a high-efficiency blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diode (PHOLED), the College of Pharmacy announced Tuesday (June 1).

 

Prof. Ha’s research team consists of the Gyeongsang National University-Samsung Display OLED Research Center and Hanbat University’s Department of Creative Convergence Engineering. There previous research is represented by the synthetization of iridium (III) with improved chromaticity and luminous efficacy of blue phosphorescent FlrPic. The blue OLED the research team has recently developed is expected to contribute to reducing the power consumption and improving the efficiency of next-general displays.

 

The joint research team used the new material to secure external quantum efficiency and current efficiency by manufacturing the PHOLED.

 

The latest research findings were published in January this year in the Chemical Engineering Journal (IF 10.652), under the title of “Ancillary ligand effect with methyl and t-butyl for deep blue and high EQE blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes”.

 

Over the recent years, Prof. Ha, along with her peer researchers, has studied the manufacturing of physiological or optical active materials by employing a diversity of organic-chemical methodologies.

 

The assistant professor of pharmaceutical sciences has also participated in the JNU-led bio-health education team and the related research institute under the national BK21 Program.
