Two JNU students selected as Grade 7 national government employees

Two of Jeju National University’s students passed the competitive examination for local talents to be appointed to the Grade 7 national public administrative positions, the University announced on Friday (May 28).
The Ministry of Personnel Management finalized the list of new employees for public administration, which included Oh Mi-yeon (student with a tourism management major) and Jeong Da-in (2020 graduate with a tourism management major) of Jeju National University.
The state-led public examination was passed by a total of 160 applicants from across the country, 100 of whom will be appointed to the public administrative positions and the other 60 to the technical ones.
The Grade 7 public examination system for local talents was introduced in 2005 for th purpose of strengthening the nation’s regional representation and diversifying its employment channels. The Ministry of Personnel Management selects the successful candidates among those college graduates and graduates-to-be with their GPAs falling within the top 10% bracket. After being recommended by their universities, the candidates take the Public Service Aptitude Test and the test for their understanding of the Constitutional Law. Those who pass the tests are interviewed by the Ministry of Personnel Management before the list of the successful candidates is finalized.
Oh and Jeong, the JNU students who recently passed the entire process, will be employed as regular Grade 7 employees for national public administration after a one-year probation period.
Jeju National University runs a preparatory course for students seeking Grade 7 government jobs, while funding their special and general lectures, mock tests, and interview coachings.
