Prof. Kim In-jung awarded presidential citation marking 56th Invention Day

Prof. Kim In-jung, director of Jeju National University’s Intellectual Property Education Center, was awarded a presidential citation during the commemorative ceremony, which was held on May 31 marking the 56th Invention Day.
Jeju National University also received a commendation awarded by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy for activating education on intellectual properties (IP).
Prof. Kim is widely recognized as a founder of an IP education system for high school and college students in the Jeju region.
The professor’s bio-sciencticic invention created domestic and international patent rights concerning local tangerine varieties of Jeju Island. His contributions extended to the industrial sector where he has continuously supported patent applications of medium and small-sized businesses through education programs.
Prof. Kim’s winning the presidential citation is based on his contributions to the education of local students and organization of invention-related events, and activities of the Council on Intellectual Property.
The inventor and educator graduated from Korea University, with a biology major, and earned his ScD from the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Since 2004, he has taught in the Faculty of Bioscience and Industry of Jeju National University. Besides the university’s Intellectual Property Education Center, Prof. Kim concurrently leads the Non-subject Education Center of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and the Research Institute for Subtropical Agriculture and Animal Biotechnology. Additionally, he holds the position of the deputy director of the Subtropical Horticulture Research Institute
