Jeju culture learning program for children to be held

Museum to run program with Jeju Ecologic Community for Children
Jeju National University Museum (Director, Oh Sang-hak) reported on June 11 that it is operating “the Jeju Culture Plaza with Jeju National University” as a part of national university development programs at 18 daycare centers belonging to Jeju Ecologic Community for Children (Chairperson, Ha Eun-hye) between June 7 and 18.
Jeju National University and daycare centers in Jeju Ecologic Community for Children plan to operate the Dano Traditional Culture Playground in the front yard of each daycare center, in which around 1,200 children can experience a variety of traditional culture related to Dano, the traditional Korean holiday. They have run traditional play experience programs since 2019 with the will to create a healthy educational environment for children through various traditional play experiences.
The museum has conducted traditional play experience programs for 3,000 people every year for Chuseok and Lunar New Year's Day and supported playthings for families to enjoy together.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the museum will operate Dano Traditional Culture Playground at the front yard of daycare centers this year, which had been performed at the square in front of the museum before. Also, traditional play experience programs are planned for Chuseok and Lunar New Year's Day.
Oh Sang-hak, the director of Jeju National University Museum, said, “In addition to great response from children, teachers, and parents who participated in last year's program, our contributions to the community were highly evaluated, and this year, the program will be expanded further. We will continue to cooperate with the local community to promote traditional culture education for Jeju children.”
