Jeju National University’s College of Future Convergence has been selected as an implementer of South Korea’s lifelong learning project for the remaining 2021-2022 school year, the university announced early on Monday (June 14).

According to the announcement, JNU College of Future Convergence will implement the lifelong education support project, promoted by South Korea’s Ministry of Education and National Institute for Lifelong Education, for five consecutive years.

The education ministry recently decided to allocate 730 million won to the school for the operation of this year’s lifelong education programs.

Jeju National University was first selected as an implementer of the state-run project in 2016, accepting new students to its College of Future Convergence for the 2017 spring term.

The school now runs four undergraduate courses in the Departments of Beauty & Cosmetology, Tourism Convergence, Real Estate, and Silver Care & Social Welfare.

Applicants for the courses are required to be aged 30 or over who completed vocational high school at minimum, with three years of work experience in the related field. The admission process includes a document screening and an interview without the Scholastic Aptitude Test.

Nam Chin-yeol, dean of the College of Future Convergence, said the four departments reflect local characteristics of Jeju Island and offer a converged system of theoretical learning and field exercises.
