Jeju National University’s industry-academy cooperation agency (JNU LINC+) held the course completion ceremony for its KOMIPO Employment Academy on Sunday (June 18).

JNU LINC+ and Korea Midland Power Corp. (COMIPO) co-organized the career preparation course in 2018 to foster local talent for the green energy industry. This year’s program offered eight classes from May 7 through June 18.

After completing the course, 16 students were awarded two certificates of course completion issued by the president of JNU and CEO of COMIPO, respectively. COMIPO also gave scholarships to excellent trainees who received high scores for presentations. Kang Ji-yoon, a fourth-year student majoring in mechanical engineering was nominated as the winner for the gold prize.

The Employment Academy marks the 4th anniversary this year, according to Kang Chulung, director of LINC+. He stated that the four courses in the program have become an influential academy-industry cooperation platform for reducing mismatches in Jeju workers’ skills and jobs and creating appealing job opportunities for talented intellectuals. KOMIPO Employment Academy is significant in that the university works to foster innovative local intellects who will lead the green energy industry, one of Jeju’s leading industrial sectors, he added.
