Talent training for ‘4th industries’ agreed with KOSSA

Jeju National University’s Software Convergence Education Institute (JNU-SCEI) and Korea Open Source Software Association (KOSSA) agreed on software talent training on Wednesday (June 23).
Under the agreement, JNU-SCEI and KOSSA will employ concrete measures to build a comprehensive partnership for the development of state-of-the art technological areas featuring software convergence.
Particularly, the two institutes will work together to disseminate the values of software in the era of the “4th industrial revolution” by nurturing talents in artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, big data, and blockchain technologies.
Shim Hosung, vice chairman of KOSSA, pointed out that domestic and foreign software companies are now looking for talented individuals who can utilize open source software. As more efforts are needed to raise public awareness of its copyright and safe use, KOSSA will work to create tangible outcomes built on the agreement signed with Jeju National University, Shim added.
Song Wang-cheol, director of JNU-SCEI, said the agreement will provide JNU students with an opportunity to learn more about open source-based software and take quality programs on how to use such software. JNU-SCEI will work to best utilize its bilateral collaboration and partnership with KOSSA, he stressed.
