JNU student Won Ji-won announced as winner of IP scholarship and best paper award

A Jeju National University student was awarded the Best Paper Prize at the 2021 KOSIPER Spring Conference.
The Korean Society for Intellectual Properties Education & Research (KOSIPER) recently established the Intellectual Properties Education & Research Scholarship Fund.
According to KOSIPER, Won Ji-won, a JNU student majoring in aquatic life medicine was selected as the winner of its Best Paper Prize and the first winner of the newly established scholarship fund.
The academic society explained that Won’s nomination was determined based on the recognition of her activities in the intellectual property (IP) mentoring course, paten law research group, and IP promotion supporter group. Won’s previous winning the JNU-IP Talent Prize also contributed to the nomination.
Won received the Best Paper Prize for her paper presentation on capacity building and career development of high school students through IP educational mentoring activities, based on her experience in the volunteer mentoring program.
The KOSIPER said the scholarship fund was contributed by Kim Gyeong-lae, CEO of Halla Patent Law Firm. The candidates are recommended by KOSIPER members or IP-related professors and announced by the KOSIPER-led Scholarship Winner Selection Committee.
The 2021 KOSIPER Spring Conference was jointly organized by the IP Education Leading University Project Teams of Jeju National University, Cheongju University, Hansung University, and Anyang University.
The participants gave presentations and exchanged ideas and opinions about IP education and research activities, under the theme of “Design the Future Use and Education of IP in the Era of Digital Transformation.”
Kim In-jung, vice president of KOSIPER and head of JNU IP Education Leading University Project Team, said KOSIPER will work to help IP researchers to fully adjust and respond to the changing environment amid the ongoing digital transformation.
