Nuclear Safety and Security Commission Chairman visits JNU Radiation Monitoring Station NSSC chair showed interest in JNU’s portable gamma ray and double particle imaging devices

Uhm Jaesik, chairperson of Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC), visited the Jeju National University on Thursday (July 1).
The university said the nuclear safety specialist checked out the operational state of food the radiation testing system and the Regional Radiation Monitoring Station located at the university’s Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology.
During his visit, the NSSC chairman showed interest in the use of the portable gamma ray and double particle imaging devices, which had been developed by Jeju National University.
He also discussed with university officials on the measures for continued support for education and research in the nuclear and radiation fields.
The NSSC head also attended the 2021 Korea Regional Radiation Monitoring Stations Conference on July 1 and 2.
The conference invited the directors of South Korea’s 15 Regional Radiation Monitoring Stations and officials of Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, as well as NSSC members.
The participants shared the environmental radiation results and key operational issues and development strategies of the Regional Radiation Monitoring Stations.
