Industry-academy cooperation agreed for smart farm promotion and education

Jeju National University’s department of Horticultural Science agreed on mutual cooperation with a Jeju-based smart farm developer and the university’s Converged Smart Farm Incubating Program Agency, the department announced on Wednesday (June 30).

The university’s horticultural department and its incubation center signed the agreement with LINT Corp. for the purpose of fostering young farming talents through cooperation, education, and field training.

Under the agreement, the three parties will arrange education and consulting programs for Jeju-based smart farmers, while providing mutual support when holding seminars on smart farms.

The agreement also specifies that various training programs will be offered, along with field experiences, to expand the distribution of Jeju-type smart farms and help local farming households build capacity.

Prof. Han Sang-heon, head of the Department of Horticultural Science, said the school faculty will make concerted efforts to work with LINT to bring out satisfactory outcomes.

Lee Kyu-baek, CEO of LINT, expected the agreement will contribute to strengthening the capacity of local farmers by incubating young agricultural leaders.
