Cooperation agreed between JNU Research Institute for Basic Science and JIKOM Exchanges to be promoted for research on using local biological resources for medical purposes

Jeju National University’s Research Institute for Basic Science (JNU-RIBC) and Jeju Institute of Korean Medicine (JIKOM) agreed to promote the exchanges for research on using local biological resources for medical purposes, the university announced on Wednesday (July 21).
Under the agreement, the two institutes will share information about research and development of medicine using biological resources while mutually providing infrastructures for related research projects. Additionally, exchanges will be promoted to foster local human resources using the university’s talent incubation program.
Kim Myung-sook, director of JNU-RIBC, said the agreement will allow for academic exchanges and joint research between the two institutes. Particularly, efforts will be made to establish a platform for the development of Korean medicine using local biological resources, she added.
Song Min-ho, director of JIKOM, expected the two institutes’ strengthened bilateral relationship will help boost research efforts in the field of basic sciences as well as the development of Korean medicine.
