On December 12, Kim Sun-geum, a Jeju resident living in Sendai, Japan, visited JNU (President Kim Eel-hwan) and contributed KRW 100 million to the JNU Development Fund. The delivery ceremony was attended by Kim Sun-geum, her brother Kim Dae-seung, her niece Kim Mi-mi, JNU President Kim Eel-hwan, Kim Sung-wook, Head of the JNU Management Innovation Department, and Park Jae-hee, Director of the Student Welfare Department.

Mrs. Kim, born in Sagye, Andeok-myeon, Jeju, moved to Seoul at the age of 18 to pursue economic opportunities after her family’s financial difficulties prevented her from continuing her studies. She later graduated from middle and high school through school qualification exams. Subsequently, she moved to Japan and now resides in Sendai, Tohoku, Japan.

In the hope of supporting students from her hometown, Mrs. Kim donated the scholarship funds, which she obtained from the sale of an apartment she owned in Japan.

Mrs. Kim expressed her wish that JNU create a supportive environment to help students continue their studies even in challenging times.
