Jeju National University held the award ceremony for the winners of the 2021 Poster Contest on Coexistence and Cooperation on Tuesday (Aug. 3).

The contest was organized for the purpose of discovering exemplary cases on the social roles of universities in terms of contributing to the industries and local community.

The Grand Prize presented in the name of the JNU president was given to the MBTL team whose members (Lee Hyo-geun, Hyeon Ji-min, Je Jun-geon, and Heo Jun-ho) studied the anti-obesity efficacy of Jeju’s native substances.

The Gwaengjaengi team (Kim Hyo-jin, Din Ti Tuideng) was awarded the First Prize, presented by the dean of JNU Graduate School, for the study on Sargassum hornei’s efficacy of improving the respiratory conditions.

The winners of the Second Prize presented by the head of the BK21 Agency include Park Seon-mi (single-member team) and the university’s BK21 Incubating Team for Social Data Science.

The Encouragement Prize, also presented by the head of the BK21 Agency, was given to Shin Jae-beom (single-member team) and four other teams.

Song Seok-eon, the JNU president, expected the contest will motivate promising researchers to share insights about local collaboration and activate the industry-academy cooperation in the Jeju region.

The award-winning posters will be exhibited on the first-floor lobby of the university’s Central Library until Aug. 12.
