BK21 incubating team to hold Open Lab event on Thursday

Jeju National University’s Brain Korea (BK) 21 team named JNU Incubating Team for Sustainable Growth and Data Science and Tourism, Business and Economic Research Institute will hold the “Open Lab” event on Thursday (Aug. 8).

Undergraduates visiting the university’s Tourism, Business and Economic Research Institute during the event will be introduced to the state-funded BK21 educational “tracks” and support programs.

Specifically, the introduction will include the information on the educational and financial benefits provided for postgraduate researchers, along with the research system and directions available when working with the institute.

JNU Incubating Team for Sustainable Growth and Data Science is jointly led by the faculty members of the university’s Departments of Tourism Development, Management Information Systems, and Economics. Professors in the Department of Fashion & Textiles and the Faculty of Human Ecology & Welfare also participate in the team as adjunctive members.

The BK21 team’s student members have succeeded in publishing journal articles addressing diverse areas, while receiving funds under the school’s postgraduate research innovation project.

The team also established a platform for industry-university-institute collaboration with Jeju TechnoPark, Jeju Tourism Organization, Kyung Hee University’s Smart Tourism Research Center, and other related institutes from in and out of the Jeju region.
