Jeju National University’s Innovation Center for Engineering Education ran the Drone Specialist Training Course in partnership with Korea Politechnics Jeju.

The educational course was held from July 12 to 23 on the campuses of the two schools, for the purpose of educating the trainees on the skills needed for the Ultra-Light Vehicle (ULV) Pilot Certificate.

During the course, 10 JNU Students and three KPJ students completed the lessons on how to fly drones, which were taught by professional ULV pilots.

Specifically, they piloted a drone for six hours as is required for applicants of the ULV Pilot Certificate.

Ahn Kijung, the director of Jeju National University’s Innovation Center for Engineering Education, said that the latest designation of Jeju as the Free ULV Zone has incurred an increasing interest of students in drones. The training course will help lay the groundwork for incubating drone specialists in the near future, he expected.
