Online internship to be regularly held for India-based LG Soft

Jeju National University’s Software Convergence Education Institute held an online internship for LG Soft India, the university announced on Sunday (Aug. 15).

The program was offered from July 5 to Aug. 13, with the support of Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC) and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.

The university’s software incubation agency announced that it determined to regularize the internship program, after the internal assessment on the latest one.

JDC sponsored the event for two consecutive years as a way of providing local undergraduates with job opportunities as well as quality training courses in the field of Internet of Things.

To make the work environment as realistic as possible, the online internship was held in the laboratory of the university’s Software Convergence Education Institute.

The curriculum was also designed identically to that of LG Soft India for a systematic operation of the course.

The participants revealed a high level of satisfaction in the post-program survey. The trainees especially received the Gold Medal in the hackerthon event for interns in the category of LG WebOS.

Jeju National University plans to connect the program with the school’s long-term internship curriculum with a focus on blockchain, big data, artificial intelligence, and FinTech areas.

Song Wang-chul, the director of the university’s Software Convergence Education Institute, said that selecting the highly appealing conglomerate for the project contributed greatly to increasing the level of student and corporate satisfaction.

Discovering more high-tech companies for partnership will help provide more internship opportunities for the students, he added.
