Online conference held with Shandong Agricultural University Joint research opportunities on polysaccharide from plants discussed and shared

Jeju National University’s Department of Food Science & Nutrition held an online conference on Aug. 11 for academic exchanges with researchers from China’s Shandong Agricultural University.

The conference was led by Prof. Lee Yunkyung and Prof. Zhang Guiguo, for the updating each other’s team on the findings of the two country’s joint research project on the polysaccharide derived from onshore and offshore plants.

During the event, more than 20 scientists from both sides gave presentations on eight different case examples and shared their ideas and thoughts.

The joint research project has been conducted for the comparative analysis of the constitution and molecular scopes of the plant polysaccharide.

The researchers plan to examine the correlations between the structures and the physiological activities of the plant polysaccharide, while assessing their anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, and anti-diabetes impacts on animals.
