Jeju National University’s Intellectual Property Education Center (JNU-IPEC) held the 2021 Invention Camp, the institute announced on Wednesday (Aug. 25).

The three-day event began on Aug. 13, inviting young students to obtain basic knowledge about intellectual properties.

The first-day program featured Lee Young-chan, a Pyeongdae Elementary School Teacher and PhD of invention pedagogy, introduced the students to the universal designs invented for different social classes.

On the second day, Lee Hee-kyeong, CEO of Invention & Storytelling, helped the participants discover ideas for new invention in their daily lives.

Director Kim In-jung of JNU-IPEC led the third-day program, teaching the children about the basic principles of invention. His lecture especially demonstrated the development of a ginseng incubator, which only requires water. The students also tried making their own model planes and learned how the airplanes can fly.

According to Kim, JNU-IPEC will continue to hold different programs for local students, so that the center can contribute to raising children’s awareness of intellectual properties and inspiring them to make their own patent applications.
