Big data contest scheduled to be held with JPDC
Jeju National University will host a big data contest with the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Development Corporation (JPDC), Jeju’s Samdasoo bottled water developer.
The 2021 Samdasoo X JNU Big Data Contest will be held for the university’s undergraduate and graduate students for the purpose of fostering talent tailored to the needs of local companies.
Applications will be accepted via email (seonyoung@jejunu.ac.kr) by Aug. 26.
The contest will be offered along with a training course, and the participating students will receive 500,000 won per team for field practice expenses. The actual competition will be based on what the students have learned from the training course.
The Grand Prize will be presented by the university’s president, and the winner will also be awarded the prize money worth 1 million won. The First Prize winner will receive the citation presented by the CEO of JPDC, along with the prize money of 500,000 won. The Second Prize will be presented with the prize money of 300,000 won, presented by the director of the school’s Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (IACU).
The award-winning teams will also receive mentoring and financial support for starting up a new business.
Song Seok-eon, president of JNU, said the contest is expected to contribute to increasing the students’ work-related capabilities and job opportunities.
