LINC+’s problem-solving camp Season 5 completed online

Jeju National University’s LINC+ (a state-led industry-academic cooperation project) held the performance sharing event of its 2021 Youth Marathon Camp, the university’s LINC+ announced on Tuesday (Aug. 31).
The Youth Marathon Camp is committed to resolving local community issues based on the ideas suggested by college students. The university’s LINC+ has held the event annually with different themes over the past five years.
The latest event was considered Season 5 of the camp, which was held in association with the 2021 Failure Expo in Jeju. Connecting the two events was aimed at reducing negative impressions about failures and providing opportunities for another trial.
The participants of Season 5 included individuals and groups from related local institutes, companies, and organizations. Thirty campers were selected prior to the event, who were later divided into nine teams and joined the four-day camp from Aug. 24.
The performance sharing event presented the prize money worth a total of 3.6 million won to encourage the teams to actively participate in their projects.
The Grand Prize was given to the Only You team, whose project focused on starting a business based on the animal funeral issues on Jeju Island.
Many other ideas also gained attention from different teams, such as reducing disposable waste from night markets by designing diverse pork packaging techniques.
The event was co-organized by JNU LINC+ Jeju Regional Innovation and Collaboration Center, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeju Greater Future Center, and the 2021 Failure Expo of Jeju Local Community Innovation Support Council. The program will be re-organized as a discussion session for local youths during the 2021 Failure Expo in Jeju, which is slated to be held in October, 2021.
